KEAM 2018

KEAM 2018: It is an examination conducted by the office of the commissioner of Entrance exams, run by the government of Kerala. To get admission to engineering college of Kerala, you must clear the KEAM exam.

Earlier, this examination was conducted both for engineering and medical course admission. Now, after the introduction of NEET in 2016 the exam become limited to engineering course, and for the medical aspirant, only NEET scores are accepted. But, the medical aspirant has to register for KEAM to secure admission in Kerala.

KEAM 2018: Important Dates

Date of the notification 1st February 2018.
Last day for Online application process including fee payment 28th February 2018.
Last date for receipt of Printout of Online Application along with supporting documents 31st March 2018.
Availability of admit card 10th April 2018
Date and time of Examination Physics & Chemistry (Paper-I): 23rd April 2018

Mathematics (Paper-II): 24th April 2018

Declaration of the result On or before the 4th week of May 2018.

KEAM 2018: Eligibility Criteria

  1. If you have scored 50% aggregate in physics, chemistry and mathematics in the higher secondary of board examination either from Kerala or any recognised boards in India, you will be eligible. The 50% marks in mathematics will be taken separately.
  2. In case, if you have scored 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and mathematics then you are only eligible for admission under management quota.
  3. Most importantly, you must have completed 17 years of age as on the 31st December 2017.

KEAM 2018: Eligibility Criteria (Other information)

  1. You should be an Indian citizen.
  2. Secondly, if you fall into the category of P.I.O (Persons of Indian Origin)/O.C.I (Overseas Citizens of India) you will be treated as an Indian citizen with the limited purpose of admission.
  3. Furthermore, if you belong to Kerala state, then you will be categorised as ‘Keralite’. Also, if your parents are working as an A.I.S (All India Service) officers, you will be deemed as Keralite.
Non-Keralite category 1
In this area, the candidate has to fulfil specific criteria to get categorised as ‘Non-Keralite.’
  1. If you have undergone any qualifying courses in Kerala or if you are son/daughter of non-Keralite parents belonging to Govt. of India/Defence Service posted in Kerala.
  2. Same as the above if you have undergone qualifying courses in Kerala but your parents are serving or served in the government of Kerala for a minimum period of two years, will also be termed as ‘Non-Keralite’.
  3. Even if you are not of Kerala origin but lived for 5 years during 12 years of study, you will fall into the ‘Non-Keralite category 1’.
  4. However, a non-Keralite category will be considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for Engineering courses and they will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation or any fee concession.
Non-Keralite category 2
  1. If you don’t belong to Keralite or non-Keralite category, then you will come under ‘Non-Keralite category 2’
  2. In this category, you are eligible for admission to Government seats and Management quota seats in Engineering courses in Government Controlled Self financing Colleges.
  3. However, the ‘Non-Keralite Category-II’ (NK II) candidates will be considered for admission to the Government seats in Government Controlled Self Financing Engineering Colleges only when the Keralite and Non-Keralite I (NK I) candidates are not available for admission.

KEAM 2018: Application Process (Step 1)

  1. For the online application process, you have to visit
  2. After visiting the site then click “KEAM 2018-Online Application’.
  3. Before you start the registration, you must have an email id and phone no.
  4. Having an email id and phone no. will help you to get important communication regarding KEAM 2018.
  5. After starting the registration process, you need to mention the Name, Date of birth, Email Id and phone no.
  6. After that type the password of your choice.
  7. The password should be minimum 8 characters, should contain 1 alphabet, at least 1 no.(0 to 9) and should have one symbol.
  8. Repeat the password.
  9. A captcha will appear on the screen. Type the letter as shown in the box.
  10. After entering the field click on register.
  11. It will display a confirmation of registration.
  12. If you have made any mistake, then click on edit.
  13. Once this process is finished, then you will get generated application number.
  14. Please note the application no. for future purpose.

KEAM 2018: Application Process (Step 2)

  1. You need to upload the images of photograph, signature and left-hand thumb impression.
  2. Secondly, the photograph must be in colour with a light colour background, white is preferable. It must be taken in a professional studio. Photo taken by mobile phone/tab is not accepted.
  3. Most important, the photograph should be in passport size format.
  4. Also, the front view of the full face and shoulder portion of the candidate must be seen clearly in the photograph.
  5. Photo, wearing caps and dark glasses will be rejected.
  6. Scanned image file should be in jpg format
  7. The image file should be between 10 kb and 30 kb file size.
  8. Your name and date should be printed at the bottom portion of the photograph with black letter and white background.
  9. In next step, you need to upload the signature.
  10. Do not scan the full sheet. The scanned image file should be in jpg format. (Jpeg)
  11. The image file should be between 10 kb and 30 kb file size.
  12. The next step is to upload the left thumb impression.
  13. Place left-hand thumb on an ink pad.
  14. Put thumb impression on a white paper.
  15. The image file should be in jpg format. (Jpeg)
  16. Dimensions of the image of signature must be 150 pixels width and 100 pixels height.
  17. The image file should be between 10 kb and 30 kb file size.

KEAM 2018: Application Process (Step 3)

  1. Select your preferred course.
  2. Then choose the available examination centre.
  3. The Next step, is to mention the personal details of gender, citizenship, guardian details, permanent address and communication address.
  4. After that mention the qualifying examination in which you are studying or already studied.
  5. If you belong to S.E.B.Cs or Other Eligible Community (O.E) you must submit the Non-Creamy Layer certificate.
  6. Now in the final step, you need to make the payment either through online or e-challan.
  7. After that take print of the application.

KEAM 2018: Application Fees

If opted Dubai as Examination Centre Rs. 12,000+Application Fee


KEAM 2018: Application Process (Final Step)

  1. Firstly, after taking the printout of the application form, you need attach few documents.
  2. Secondly, affix a passport size (3.5 x 4.5 cm) photograph (this should be the copy of the uploaded photo.
  3. You have to attach documents like Proof of Nativity, Proof for Date of Birth, Course Certificate in Original or Self Attested copy of Mark list.
  4. Finally, Original Community/Non-Creamy Layer Certificate can be attached, if communal reservation is claimed.

KEAM 2018: Exam pattern

  1. There will be two papers.
  2. One paper has physics and chemistry.
  3. The second paper is in mathematics.
  4. Both the papers are happening on two different days.
  5. Each paper will be of two and a half hours.
  6. Each paper will have 120 questions.
  7. The limited time will be 150 minutes, for each paper.
  8. 4 marks are awarded for every correct answer.
  9. Negative marking is one mark.
